Gen 2 Ford Raptor Parts (2017-2020)

Suspension, chassis reinforcement and protection for the 2017-2020 Ford F-150 Raptor — the Gen 2 truck. This is the full Gen 2 catalog: front mid travel and long travel kits, 5-link rear conversions, the weld-in and bolt-on parts that fix the chassis's known wear points, plus shocks, skids, bed racks and lighting. Machined and fabricated in Mesa, Arizona by the shop that raced the first Raptor at the Baja 1000.

2017-2018 vs 2019-2020: What Actually Differs

All four years share the same aluminum body and 3.5L EcoBoost, but Ford changed the dampers partway through the run, and that decides which shock and brake parts fit your truck.

2017-2018 2019-2020
Factory front shocks FOX 3.0 non-adaptive FOX 3.0 Live Valve (adaptive)
Shock upgrade path FOX 3.0 internal bypass coilover kit FOX 3.0 Live Valve internal bypass
Alcon big brake kits front and rear available not offered

Everything structural — arms, spindles, top hats, sway bars, coil buckets, skids, bed racks — fits all four years.

Reinforce Before You Add Travel

The Gen 2 chassis has three places that give up under sustained desert use, and all three are worth addressing before you bolt on more travel and stickier shocks. More wheel travel puts more load into the same factory sheet metal.

Front Suspension, In Order of Commitment

  1. Stock width, better parts. Billet upper arms, fabricated lower control arms, billet tie rods and a fabricated front spindle kit. Factory track width, no fender work.
  2. Billet top hats. Stock height, 1.5" lift (Phase 1) or 2" lift (Phase 2), each in standard and heavy-duty. Works with the factory shock.
  3. Mid travel. Complete kits with a billet upper arm or a fabricated upper arm, with a fabricated bypass shock mount kit if you're adding a bypass.
  4. +3" long travel. The +3" kit with fabricated upper arm, or Geiser spring fronts in +2.5" and +3".

Rear Travel: Four Steps Up From Stock

Setup What it is
Better leaf pack Deaver springs or the ICON multi-rate pack, plus welded shackles. Keeps the bed usable.
5-link mid travel Thru-the-bed bypass setup running a 16" 3.0 coilover or 3.5 bypass.
5-link long travel — 19" Long travel 5-link conversion, 19" of rear wheel travel.
Bed cage shock tower — 20.25" Tube bed cage shock tower for 20.25" of wheel travel. Race-truck territory.

You can also move the truck onto Gen 3 geometry entirely with the Gen 2 to Gen 3 Rear Suspension Conversion Kit or its long travel version — which is why you'll see Gen 3 link and panhard mounts on this page.

Sway Bars: Check Your Lower Arm First

Same trap as every other Raptor generation. The stock lower arm kit and the fabricated lower arm kit are not interchangeable. Front bump stops split the same way — stock arm versus fabricated arm.

Protection, Bed and Interior

Underbody skid plate kits, rear differential skids (standard and heavy duty), lower arm skids, full-length and extended aluminum shock guards, and rear shock guard mud flap kits.

In the bed: the Modular Bed Organizer, a version with a slide-out cargo tray, single and dual tire carriers, fuel jug trays and jack mounts. Inside: a fold-down Garmin TREAD XL dash mount, a 110W radio console mount, and Adapt-A-Panel dash and seat-back panels. Up front, stock-bumper light mounts and A-pillar light mounts.

Gen 2 Raptor Build FAQs

What changed between a 2017-2018 and a 2019-2020 Raptor?

The significant change for suspension purposes is the shock package: 2019 brought FOX Live Valve adaptive dampers, so front shock upgrades are year-specific. The Alcon big brake kits we carry are listed for 2017-2018. Arms, spindles, top hats, sway bars, coil buckets, skids and bed racks fit all four years.

Why do Gen 2 coil buckets and lower arm pockets crack?

Both are factory stampings carrying loads the truck sees in whoops and on landings. Over time the lower arm pocket slot spreads and the coil bucket fatigues around its perimeter. It shows up on high-mile desert trucks rather than being a defect in any one truck. We make repair parts at three levels — bolt-on brackets, weld-in gussets and plates, and full fabricated replacements.

Should I reinforce the chassis before or after installing long travel?

Before, if the truck already has hard miles on it. Long travel and a stiffer shock package raise the loads going into the same factory structure, so a marginal coil bucket or arm pocket tends to fail sooner afterward, not later. If the truck is low-mileage and stock, reinforcing alongside the suspension install is fine.

How much rear wheel travel can a Gen 2 Raptor get?

Four rough tiers: an upgraded leaf pack keeps the factory geometry, the 5-link mid travel setup runs a 16" coilover or bypass through the bed, the long travel 5-link conversion gets to 19 inches, and the tube bed cage shock tower is built for 20.25 inches. Each step up costs more bed space and more fabrication.

Do I need the stock or fabricated sway bar kit?

It depends on which front lower control arm is on your truck, not the year. The stock-arm kit will not bolt to a fabricated lower arm and vice versa. Look under the front of the truck before ordering, or send us a photo.

Why are Gen 3 parts showing up on this page?

Because the Gen 2 to Gen 3 rear conversion uses them. If you convert a Gen 2 to Gen 3 rear geometry, you need the Gen 3 link, spring and panhard mounts, so they're grouped here alongside the conversion kits.

Why Foutz Motorsports on a Gen 2

Foutz Motorsports has been building off-road trucks since 1998 and put the first Ford Raptor into the Baja 1000 in 2008. The Gen 2 parts on this page came out of running these trucks hard, including our own 2017 Raptor race truck. If you're partway through a build and not sure what order to do things in, call us at (480) 718-9800 — that conversation is free and it usually saves money.
