Gen 3 Raptor Rear Suspension

Gen 3 Raptor Rear Suspension Parts and Kits (2021-2026)

Billet rear links and panhard bars, limit straps and bump stops, rear springs and spacer lifts, bypass and Live Valve shocks, bed organizers, weld-on axle and frame mounts, long travel cantilever kits and Gen 2 to Gen 3 conversions for the Ford F-150 Raptor and Raptor R.

The Gen 3 rear is a 5-link on coils, and that layout lives or dies on its joints and its mounts: the factory bushings bind as the axle cycles, the panhard bar pulls the axle off center the moment you lift, and the stock link mounts crack first on a truck that gets landed. Fix those three and the back of the truck stops fighting the front.

Rear wheel travel by setup: 15 inches on stock-length billet links that keep the factory rear shock, 17 inches through the bed, and 19 inches on the long travel cantilever kit — the most of the three, and it keeps the bed floor, the stock fuel tank and the spare tire location.

Everything behind the cab on a 2021–2026 Ford Raptor and Raptor R. Billet rear links, panhard bars, limit straps and bump stops, rear springs and spacer lifts, bypass and Live Valve shocks, bed organizers, weld-on axle and frame mounts, long travel cantilever kits, and Gen 2 to Gen 3 conversions.

The Gen 3 rear is a 5-link on coils, and that layout lives or dies on its joints and its mounts. The factory rubber bushings bind as the axle cycles, the panhard bar pulls the axle off center the moment you lift, and the stock link mounts are the first thing to crack on a truck that gets landed. Fix those three and the back of the truck stops fighting the front.

How much rear wheel travel you end up with: 15 inches on stock-length billet links that keep the factory rear shock, 17 inches with the through-the-bed kit, and 19 inches with the long travel cantilever kit — the most travel of the three, and it still keeps the stock fuel tank, the bed floor and the spare tire location.

How Much Rear Wheel Travel Do You Get?

Rear wheel travel is how this category gets compared, so here is the whole ladder in one place. Every figure below is for the Gen 3 Raptor and Raptor R, 2021 through 2026.

Setup Rear wheel travel Shock Install Bed and spare
Stock-length billet links and panhard bar 15" Keeps the factory rear shock Bolt-on, factory mounts Both untouched
Through-the-bed 5-link kit (bed cage) 17" 3.0x16 coil over or 3.5x16 bypass, direct mounted Cutting and welding Shocks come up through the bed floor
Long travel cantilever kit 19" 2.5" coil over plus Live Valve or 3" bypass Cutting and welding Both kept — everything sits under the bed

Which one is right: if the truck is still a daily driver and you want the factory shocks to stay, the billet links at 15" are the whole answer and the only bolt-on option here. If you want the most rear travel available while keeping a usable bed and the spare where it lives, that is the cantilever kit at 19". The through-the-bed kit gives up bed floor and lands at 17", but the shock mounts directly rather than through a linkage — so it takes a physically larger shock, it is easier to tune, and it is easier to service when the time comes. That is the trade: two inches of travel and some bed space, for a shock you can reach and dial in.

All three need the bump stops, limit straps and panhard bar sorted in the same build. Travel you cannot control at the end of the stroke is not travel you can use.

Rear Links and Arms

This is where most Gen 3 rear builds start. The factory links use rubber bushings that bind under articulation and go soft with age; every kit here swaps that for a joint that actually pivots. Stock-length billet links keep the factory rear shock and give 15 inches of rear wheel travel — no cutting, no welding, no new shocks. For a deeper breakdown of just the links and panhard bar, see Gen 3 Raptor Rear Links & Panhard Bar.

Two joint styles, and the choice is about maintenance versus feel:

  • Ultra-Flex joints — greaseable, high misalignment, quiet on the street. The choice for a truck that still gets daily driven.
  • Uniballs — the tighter, more direct option, and a serviceable wear item you replace rather than an arm you throw away.

Full detail on every link and joint option, side by side, lives on Gen 3 Rear Links & Panhard Bar.

Panhard Bars: Recentering the Axle

The panhard bar is what holds the rear axle side to side. Raise the truck and the bar swings through a new arc, which pushes the axle off center — you see it as a rear tire sitting closer to one fender than the other. An adjustable bar puts it back where it belongs. Lift the rear and you need one; it is not optional.

Limit Straps and Bump Stops

The cheapest change on this page and the one that does the most per dollar. A bump stop controls the last few inches of compression so the axle does not hammer the frame. A limit strap controls the end of extension so the links, the panhard bar and the shock do not get pulled past what they were built for.

Most people spend on shocks first. Straps and stops are what keep the shock from being the part that takes the hit.

Rear Springs, Spacers and Lift

Two ways to bring the back of the truck up: taller springs, or a spacer on the factory spring. Spacers are the cheap, reversible option for leveling out a front lift. Springs change the rate as well as the height, which matters if the truck carries weight or tows.

The Raptor R carries more weight over the rear axle than the V6 truck, so it gets its own spring rate. Raising the rear changes panhard bar geometry — see the panhard panel above before ordering.

Long Travel and 5-Link Rear Kits

Complete rear ends for a truck built to run desert at speed. Both are fabrication jobs with welding involved.

The cantilever kit moves the shocks inboard under the bed and gives the most rear wheel travel of anything we build for this truck — 19 inches — while keeping the stock fuel tank, the bed floor and the spare tire location. The bed cage kit runs the shocks up through the bed floor at 17 inches of travel, mounting the shock directly instead of through a linkage. That direct mount is why it takes a larger shock, why it is easier to tune, and why it is easier to service. Either way, budget for the panhard bar, the limit straps and the axle mounts in the same build — they are not extras, they are what makes the travel usable.

Rear Shocks and Shock Mounting

The Live Valve shocks are the factory-style replacement and keep the truck's electronic damping. The ADS bypass is the step into externally adjustable damping, which is a shock you tune rather than one you install and forget.

Bed Organizers and Bed Cages

A bed organizer on a long travel truck does two jobs: it holds spares, fuel and tools where they will not move, and it gives the rear shocks a structure to mount to. The 5-link kit is built around the second job, and because the shock mounts directly to it rather than through a linkage, it is the easier setup to tune and to service.

Axle Mounts, Frame Mounts and Reinforcement

The Gen 3 rear link mounts are the known failure point. They crack at the frame, and once they do the fix is a welder either way — the only question is whether you are replacing a mount or straightening a frame. Gusset first, replace second.

Gen 2 to Gen 3 Rear Conversions

The Gen 3 5-link coil rear can be put under a Gen 2 truck. These kits are the mounts and hardware to do it, in stock-travel and long travel form.

This is a full fabrication job, not a bolt-on. Call before you buy so we can walk through what your truck needs.

Gen 3 Raptor Rear Suspension FAQs

What should I upgrade first on a Gen 3 Raptor rear end?

Limit straps and bump stops, then the rear links. Straps and stops stop the damage; links fix the binding that makes the rear feel dead. Shocks and long travel come after both.

Do I need an adjustable panhard bar if I lift the rear?

Yes. Raising the rear swings the panhard bar through a new arc and pushes the axle off center. An adjustable bar brings it back. Skip it and one rear tire sits closer to its fender than the other.

Ultra-Flex joints or uniballs on the rear links?

Ultra-Flex joints are greaseable, handle more misalignment and stay quiet, which suits a truck that gets driven every day. Uniballs are tighter and more direct, and the uniball itself is a replaceable wear item. Both are billet arms; the joint is the difference.

Why do the factory rear link mounts crack?

They are stamped and welded sheet metal carrying every landing straight into the frame. Nothing is wrong with the design for stock use — it just runs out of margin once the truck gets used hard. A gusset kit adds that margin before anything tears; a replacement mount is what it takes afterwards.

What is the difference between the cantilever kit and the bed cage kit?

Travel is the headline difference: the cantilever kit gives 19 inches, the bed cage kit 17. The cantilever moves the shocks inboard under the bed, so the bed floor, fuel tank and spare tire location all stay. The bed cage runs the shocks up through the bed floor and mounts them directly rather than through a linkage — that costs you bed space and two inches of travel, but it takes a larger shock, it is easier to tune, and it is easier to service. Both are welded installations.

Do these parts fit a 2025 or 2026 Raptor?

Yes. Gen 3 and Gen 3.5 rear suspension parts fit 2021 through 2026 trucks. Where a part is specific to the Raptor R, the listing says so.

Does the Raptor R need different rear springs?

It gets its own. The supercharged V8 truck carries weight differently, so the Raptor R rear spring kit is listed separately from the V6 springs.

Which of these need welding?

Every axle mount, frame mount and gusset kit, both long travel kits, and both Gen 2 to Gen 3 conversions. Links, panhard bars, springs, spacers, straps, stops and shocks all bolt on.

Do I need an alignment after rear suspension work?

Any change to ride height or link geometry should be followed by an alignment, and the rear axle should be checked for center at the same time.

Where are these parts made?

Every Foutz upgrade is designed, laser cut, CNC bent and machined in-house at our facility in Mesa, Arizona, USA.

Can I get a build quote or an install appointment?
