2019-2023 Ford Ranger Skid Plates

Underbody and rear differential skid plates for the 2019–2023 Ford Ranger.

The mid-size Ranger has good ground clearance and a fairly exposed underside — a combination that gets owners into rocky terrain and then punishes them for it. Fabricated in Mesa, Arizona.

The Two Plates

  • Ford Ranger Skid Plate (2019 and up) — the main underbody plate, covering the vulnerable front section where the factory provides very little.
  • Ford Ranger Rear Differential Skid Plate (2019–2023) — covers the rear diff housing, which hangs low and is expensive to damage.

Both bolt on using existing mounting points. No drilling, no cutting.

Which One First

If you are only buying one, buy the rear differential skid.

Two reasons. First, the rear diff is directly in line with whatever the rear tires roll over, so on a rocky trail it is statistically the thing that gets hit. Second, a differential housing is cast — cast iron does not bend, it cracks. A cracked housing or a holed cover means fluid loss, a tow, and a rebuild. The plate costs a fraction of that.

The underbody plate matters more as terrain gets rougher and speeds go up. On a Ranger used for forest roads and moderate trails, the diff plate covers most of the real risk.

Ranger Protection FAQs

Do these fit the 2024+ Ranger or Ranger Raptor?

No. Ford redesigned the Ranger for 2024, and the Ranger Raptor has different underbody packaging again. The rear differential plate is listed 2019–2023 because the rear axle changed. See Ranger Raptor Protection Kits.

Will they fit with a lift installed?

Generally yes — they mount to frame and axle structure, which does not move relative to the plate when you change ride height. Check the product page for any noted exceptions.

Do I need to remove the factory skid plates?

Installation detail is covered in the instructions for each kit. See our install guides.

How much ground clearance do I lose?

A small amount — the plate has thickness and sits below the component. What you get back is that a low point becomes a surface the truck slides across rather than a casting that catches and breaks.

Can I still service the differential?

Yes. The plate is designed to come off with hand tools for cover removal and fluid service.

Aluminium or steel?

Material and weight are listed on each product page.

We currently ship to the United States, and Canada. To enquire about shipping to a different destination, please contact us. We can assist you with finding a shipping broker to ship products to other US friendly countries.

How long will it take to receive my order?

Standard shipping normally takes 3-5 days after it leaves our facility. Next day shipping is available on all domestic orders (for an additional charge). International shipping times depend on the products and destination (estimated at checkout). Products we have in stock at the time of order normally ship within 48 hours. Products not in stock can take 4-6 weeks depending on production. Consult your customer service representative for details on product stock and how quickly an item can ship to you.

Are Products in stock or built to order?

We try to maintain reasonable stock of all of our Foutz Motorsports manufactured parts but sometimes we will run short and have to manufacture more to fill orders. Some items we only build to stock due to complexity of a kit or sometimes higher cost items would be built to order. Best to consult your sales representative for details on what we have on hand before placing your order. Normally production time runs up to about 4-6 weeks for any items that we dont have on hand.
