The rear diff sits exposed and directly in line with whatever the rear tires roll over. It is one of the most commonly damaged components on an off-road truck, and one of the most expensive to replace.

Super Duty: Identify Your Axle First

The Super Duty is the one platform where the truck's year is not enough. Ford has shipped several different axles, and each needs different geometry. Check what is actually under your truck before ordering:

Why Diff Armour Earns Its Place

A differential housing is cast, not forged, and it hangs at the lowest point of the axle. A hard strike can crack the housing outright or bend the cover enough to leak. Either way the truck is done for the day, and a replacement diff plus labour is an expensive lesson.

These plates bolt to existing factory mounting points and wrap the exposed face of the housing, turning a catch point into a surface the truck slides across. No drilling, no cutting, no guesswork about fitment.

Do these bolt on without drilling?

Yes. All kits use existing factory mounting locations.

Why are Super Duty plates listed by axle rather than year?

Because the Super Duty has shipped with several different axles across the same model years. Dana 60, Dana M256, Dana M275/M300, Sterling 10.25/10.50 and Sterling 11.6 all have different housing geometry.

What is the difference between the standard and heavy duty Raptor plate?

The heavy duty version uses thicker material for trucks seeing rock and high-speed impact rather than general trail use.

Will a skid plate cause the diff to run hotter?

These are covers over the exposed face rather than full enclosures, so airflow across the housing is largely retained. On normal use we do not see a meaningful temperature change.
