Bolt-on steel skids that protect the bottom of the rear shock and the rear axle mount from rock damage. Built for Ford Raptor Gen 1, 2 and 3, Bronco, Bronco Raptor, Ranger Raptor, Ram TRX and Ram RHO.

3/16 steel, precision laser cut, CNC bent and MIG welded in-house in Mesa, Arizona, finished in hammer black texture powder coat.

What Gets Damaged and Why

The rear shock on a modern off-road truck hangs down near the axle, and the lower mount is one of the lowest hard points back there. On a rock ledge or a washed-out rut it is the first thing to make contact.

Two things go wrong. A direct hit on the shock body dents it, and a dented body means the piston no longer moves cleanly — that shock is finished. A hit on the axle mount bends or tears the tab the shock bolts to, which is a welding job on the axle housing.

The skid puts a bent and welded 3/16 steel plate between both of those and the rock. It takes the hit, spreads the load into the mount, and slides instead of catching.

How They Are Built

Every skid starts as 3/16 steel on the laser table here in Mesa. It is CNC bent so the geometry is repeatable, MIG welded in-house, then powder coated in a hammer black texture that hides scrapes instead of showing bare metal after the first trip.

We use steel rather than aluminum on this part deliberately. Aluminum is lighter and works well for a shock guard, where the job is deflecting debris. A lower shock skid takes direct, concentrated impacts — steel deforms and keeps working where aluminum can crack.

All kits are bolt-on using existing hardware points. No welding, no drilling the axle.

Complete the Rear Protection

Shock skids cover the bottom. They do not cover the shaft, which is what gets sandblasted and chipped by debris coming off the tire.

Is welding required?

No. These are bolt-on kits that use existing mounting hardware.

Will a skid affect suspension travel?

No. The skid is fixed to the lower mount area and moves with the axle. It does not enter the shock's stroke.

Do they fit with aftermarket shocks?

Each kit is built around the factory shock for that truck. If you have swapped to an aftermarket shock, call us with the shock model before ordering.

Which Bronco shock do I have?

Sasquatch and base packages use one shock; the Bronco Raptor and the HOSS 3.0 package use a larger one. If you are unsure, look at the shock body diameter or send us your VIN.

How long does installation take?
