Rear Lower Arm Frame Guard

Rear Lower Arm Frame Guard

Rear Lower Arm Frame Guards with HDPE Slide

Protects the frame and the rear lower suspension arm mount from rock damage, and improves the approach angle so you do not hang up on the mount.

For the Ford Bronco, Bronco Raptor and Ranger Raptor. Steel guard with a replaceable High Density Polyethylene slide on the bottom edge, made in Mesa, Arizona.

What This Guard Fixes

On the Bronco and Ranger Raptor, the rear lower control arm bolts to a bracket hanging off the frame. That bracket is one of the lowest points on the vehicle, it faces forward, and it has a square leading edge. On a rock ledge it does not slide over — it catches.

Two problems come out of that. First, the impact damages the mount and the frame around it, which is expensive and awkward to repair. Second, the geometry itself limits you: you get hung up on obstacles you should have driven over.

The guard covers the mount and reshapes the leading edge into a ramp, so the vehicle rides over instead of stopping against it.

The HDPE Slide

The bottom angle of the guard is covered with a High Density Polyethylene slide. HDPE has a much lower coefficient of friction against rock than bare steel does, so the guard slides where steel would grab and stop you.

It is also a wear item by design. The plastic takes the abrasion instead of the steel, and when it is worn down you replace the slide rather than the whole guard. This is the same material principle used on rock sliders and skid plates on purpose-built crawlers.

Fitment

  • 2021 and up Ford Bronco — Rear Lower Arm Frame Guard with HDPE Slide
  • 2022 and up Bronco Raptor — Rear Lower Arm Frame Guard with HDPE Slide
  • 2024 and up Ranger Raptor — Rear Lower Arm Frame Guard with HDPE Slide

Ranger Raptor owners: this guard is designed to work together with the Rear Suspension Travel Sensor Protection Guard (pair) and the Travel Sensor Wire Protector add-on, both of which are in this collection. Run all three and the rear suspension components on that truck are fully covered.

See also Rear Shock Skids and Differential Skid Plates for the rest of the rear end.

Frame Guard FAQs

Is welding required?

No. These are bolt-on kits using existing mounting points.

Does it lower my ground clearance?

The guard adds material below the mount, but the shape is what matters here. A square bracket edge at a given height stops you; a ramped surface at slightly lower height does not. In practice you get through more, not less.

Can I replace the HDPE slide separately?

That is what it is for. The plastic is the wear surface; when it is worn, replace the slide and keep the guard.

Does it fit a Bronco with the Sasquatch package?

The Bronco guard is built around the rear lower arm mount, which does not change with the tire and suspension package. If you have a specific configuration you are unsure about, call (480) 718-9800.

Do I need one on each side?

Check the product page for what each kit includes — some are sold as a pair and some per side.
