Fuel Tank Skid Plates

Fuel Tank Skid Plates

Ford Bronco Fuel Tank Skid Plates

The Bronco's fuel tank hangs low and unshielded. This skid plate covers it. Precision laser cut from 3/16 aluminum and TIG welded in-house.

For the 2021 and up Ford Bronco and the 2022 and up Bronco Raptor. Made in Mesa, Arizona by Foutz Motorsports.

Why This One Matters More Than Most

Most skid plates protect something expensive. This one protects something that can strand you a long way from help, or worse.

The Bronco carries a large fuel tank slung under the body, and on both the standard Bronco and the Bronco Raptor it sits with very little ground clearance and essentially no factory shielding. Every rock ledge, stump and high-centered obstacle on a trail is a candidate for hitting it.

A punctured or cracked tank means you lose your fuel — on the trail, in the dirt, potentially onto a hot exhaust. A dented tank means reduced capacity and a stress point that fails later. Neither is a repair you make at the trailhead.

For rock crawling and technical trail use on a Bronco, this is close to mandatory hardware.

How It Is Built

Precision laser cut from 3/16 inch aluminum and TIG welded in-house for strength and durability. Aluminum keeps the weight down — this is a large plate covering a large area, and steel of the same coverage would add meaningful weight in a bad place.

The plate is shaped to cover the tank's exposed underside and present a surface that slides over obstacles rather than catching an edge on them.

Bolt-on installation using existing mounting points. No drilling, no welding on the vehicle.

Fitment

  • Ford Bronco (2021 and up) — Fuel Tank Skid Plate
  • Bronco Raptor (2022 and up) — Fuel Tank Skid Plate

The two are different plates. The Bronco Raptor is wider with different underbody packaging, so order the one for your truck.

Covering the rest of the Bronco underbody? See Underbody Skid Plates, Differential Skid Plates, Rear Lower Arm Frame Guards and Rear Shock Skids — all have Bronco and Bronco Raptor applications.

Fuel Tank Skid Plate FAQs

Does the Bronco come with a factory fuel tank skid plate?

Coverage in this area from the factory is minimal, which is exactly why this kit exists. Look under your truck at the tank — if you can see the tank itself, it is unprotected.

Will it fit with the Sasquatch package?

The plate mounts to the fuel tank area, which does not change with the tire and suspension package. If you have a specific configuration you are unsure about, call (480) 718-9800.

Can I use the Bronco plate on a Bronco Raptor?

No. They are separate parts. The Bronco Raptor has different underbody packaging.

Will it trap mud or heat?

The plate is designed for drainage and airflow around the tank rather than sealing it in.

Is drilling required?

No. Bolt-on using existing mounting points. See our install instructions.
