Lift Collars & Leveling Kits

A Foutz lift collar is a machined billet aluminum spring perch collar that installs on the shock body, under the coil spring and above the lower spring perch. Adding that collar compresses — or preloads — the factory spring, which pushes the vehicle up at the wheel. The shock itself never moves from where Ford or Ram mounted it.

You will see this same part called a few different things across the industry: spring perch collar, preload perch kit, spring preload spacer, billet preload collar, or coilover spacer. They all describe the same approach. We call ours lift collars and leveling collars.

The lift number on every kit is measured at the wheel, not at the collar. Pick the height you want to gain and select that size from the product options.

Most cheap leveling kits are a block that bolts on top of the shock mount. It works, but it moves the entire shock assembly downward, which lets the suspension droop farther than the factory ever intended it to.

That extra droop is where the damage comes from. It binds the ball joints and CV joints at full extension, and over time that causes premature failures — the exact parts you do not want to be replacing on a $70,000–$100,000 truck.

Because a spring perch collar works under the spring instead of above the shock, the shock stays in its factory position and the suspension travel stays as designed. That is the entire reason we build them this way.

Preload collar vs. block spacer at a glance

Front leveling collars for the 2021–2023 F-150 Raptor and Raptor R in 1.5" and 2", and for the 2024–2026 Raptor in 1.5", 2" and 3". These work with the factory Fox Live Valve coilovers — no shock replacement, no re-valve, no new springs. Gen 3 and Gen 3.5 Raptor owners running 37s or a heavier front bumper use these to bring the nose back up and clear the tire.

For the 2022+ Bronco Raptor we offer a front-only leveling collar kit and a front-and-rear lift collar kit in 1", 1.5", 2" and 2.5" sizes. Because front and rear collars can be mixed and matched, you can dial in a level stance or a deliberate rake — your call.

Front spring collar lift kits for the 2024+ Ranger Raptor in 1.5", 2" and 2.5", built to retain the factory Fox Live Valve shock package.

Sizing tip: the Ranger Raptor needs the 2.5" front collar to sit close to perfectly level with no load in the bed. If you run weight back there regularly, size down accordingly.

Foutz Motorsports has been building suspension for the Ram TRX since the truck launched, and the RHO got the same treatment when it arrived. Our front leveling kits for all three Ram platforms use the same under-spring preload perch design as our Ford kits, machined specifically around the Ram front suspension.

All of them leave the factory with a pronounced nose-down rake. A front preload collar brings the nose up, squares the stance, and opens room for a taller tire — without touching the shock package, replacing the springs, or bolting a block on top of the shock mount. 2021–2024 Ram TRX Front Leveling Kits

Available in 1.5", 2" and 2.5" front lift — the widest range we offer on any Ram platform. All three retain the factory TRX shocks and coil springs, and are the direct alternative to the preload perch kits and spring preload spacers from other manufacturers — built by a shop that has been racing Ford and Ram trucks since 1998.

2027+ Ram TRX Front Leveling Kits

The TRX is back for 2027, and we are already shipping a 1.5" front leveling kit for it. If you have a new TRX on order or just took delivery, this is the simplest way to take the factory rake out of it on day one — no shock swap, no spring swap, no waiting on a full lift kit to come to market. A 2027+ Ram TRX Rear Spring Spacer Lift Kit is available in 3/4" and 1".

• 1" – 1.5" — A true leveling height. Takes out the factory rake, keeps the ride closest to stock, and generally clears a modest tire upsize.
• 2" — The most common choice. Noticeably lifted stance with room for a larger tire.
• 2.5" – 3" — Maximum height and tire clearance. Best for trucks running larger tires, heavier front bumpers, or winches.

Not every height is offered on every platform — the 2025+ RHO and 2027+ TRX are 1.5" front only. Check the section for your truck above.

Remember that added preload firms up the initial part of the spring's travel. If you tow, haul, or run a heavy front bumper, factor that into your size choice.

Before install: these kits should be installed by a professional with the correct spring compression tools. A compressed factory coil spring stores an enormous amount of energy and can cause serious injury or vehicle damage if it is released improperly. This is not a driveway job without the right equipment.

After install: get the vehicle professionally aligned. Changing front ride height changes camber and toe, and skipping the alignment is how you end up chewing through a set of front tires.

What is a spring perch collar?

A spring perch collar is a machined collar that installs on the shock body, under the coil spring and above the lower spring perch. It adds preload to the factory spring, which raises ride height at the wheel while leaving the shock in its factory position. It is also called a preload collar, perch collar, spring preload spacer, or coilover spacer.

Do I need new shocks to install a lift collar?

No. Foutz lift collars are designed to work with your factory shocks and factory coil springs, including Fox Live Valve, Fox HOSS 3.0, and the factory Ram TRX and RHO shock packages. The collar adds preload to the spring you already have.

What is the difference between a lift collar and a leveling kit?

They are the same hardware used for different goals. A lift collar adds ride height. When you add that height only to the front to cancel out a truck's factory nose-down rake, the result is a leveling kit. Foutz collars do both — front-only for leveling, or front and rear for overall lift.

Why is a preload collar better than a spacer that bolts on top of the shock?

A top-mounted block spacer moves the whole shock assembly downward and lets the suspension droop farther than the factory designed it to. That extra droop binds the ball joints and CV joints and can cause premature failure. A spring perch collar installs under the spring on the shock body, so the shock stays in its factory position and suspension travel is unchanged.

Will a lift collar work with Fox Live Valve shocks?

Yes. Our F-150 Raptor and Ranger Raptor collars are designed around the factory Fox Live Valve coilover package and retain it. There is no shock replacement, no re-valve, and no change to how Live Valve operates — the collar only adds preload to the spring.

How much lift will I actually get?

The lift listed on each kit is measured at the wheel, so a 2" collar gives approximately 2" of ride height at the wheel. Actual results vary slightly with tire size, accessories, and how much weight the vehicle is carrying.

Will a preload collar change my ride quality?

Adding preload firms up the initial portion of the spring's travel, so the ride can feel slightly firmer over small bumps — particularly at the taller collar heights. Shock damping is unchanged because you are keeping the factory shocks.

Can I install lift collars myself?

We recommend professional installation. The factory coil spring has to be compressed and removed, which requires proper spring compression equipment. Doing it without the right tools risks serious injury and vehicle damage.

Do I need an alignment after installing a leveling kit?

Yes. Any change in front ride height changes your alignment. We strongly recommend a professional alignment after installation to avoid uneven front tire wear.

Can I mix different front and rear collar heights?

Yes. On kits offered front and rear — the Bronco Raptor and Bronco HOSS 3.0, for example — front and rear collar sizes can be mixed and matched so you can set the exact stance you want.

What size front leveling kit does a 2021–2024 Ram TRX take?

The 2021–2024 Ram TRX is offered in 1.5", 2" and 2.5" front lift. The 1.5" keeps the ride closest to stock, the 2" is the middle option, and the 2.5" gives the most tire and ground clearance. A rear spring spacer lift kit is available in 3/4" and 1" to match the rear.

What size leveling kit does a Ram RHO need?

The 2025+ Ram 1500 RHO front leveling kit is offered in 1.5" front lift. A rear spring spacer lift kit is also available in 3/4" and 1".

Is there a leveling kit for the 2027 Ram TRX?

Yes. Foutz Motorsports offers a 1.5" front leveling kit for the 2027+ Ram TRX that retains the factory shocks and springs, plus a rear spring spacer lift kit in 3/4" and 1".
