Lower Control Arm Skid Plates

The front lower control arm is the lowest thing at the front corner of the truck, and it is directly in the path of anything you drive over. On a stock Raptor the arm is a stamped steel piece with a ball joint at the end and nothing underneath it.

A hard hit does one of three things: it dents or bends the arm, it damages the ball joint boot and lets grit into the joint, or it catches and stops the truck. None of those are cheap. A bent lower arm changes your alignment permanently, and a contaminated ball joint fails at the worst moment.

The skid plate mounts under the arm and takes the hit instead. It is low-cost insurance on a part that is expensive to replace and awkward to reach.

Each plate is precision laser cut from 3/16 inch aluminum, CNC bent so the contour matches the arm exactly, then TIG welded in-house. It mounts under the stock lower arms on steel brackets finished in hammer black texture powder coat.

Aluminum for the plate and steel for the brackets is deliberate. The plate needs to be light — it is unsprung weight hanging off a moving suspension arm, and every pound there costs you compliance. The brackets need to be strong and are not moving through the same arc, so steel makes sense there.

All of it is designed to mount cleanly to the factory arm without drilling or modifying it.

These are built for the stock lower control arm. If you are running an aftermarket fabricated or billet lower arm, these will not mount — call (480) 718-9800 and tell us what arm is on the truck.

Will these fit an aftermarket lower control arm?

No. They are designed around the factory stamped arm. Fabricated and billet aftermarket arms have different geometry and mounting.

How much weight does this add?

It is aluminum specifically to keep that number low. The plate is a fraction of the weight of the arm it protects, and far less than a steel plate of the same coverage would be.

Does it affect suspension travel?

No. It follows the arm through its arc and does not contact anything through the range of travel.

Is drilling required?

No. The steel brackets are designed to clamp to the factory arm without modification.

Does it fit with a lift or leveling kit?

Yes — the skid plate mounts to the arm itself, so ride height does not change the fitment. See Lift Collars and Leveling Kits.
