Gen 2 Raptor Performance Parts

The Alcon Big Brake Kit for the 2017–2018 Ford Raptor (front) is the single most useful performance upgrade on a Gen 2 that is running big tires.

Here is why. The Raptor left the factory braked for factory tires. Put 37s on it, add a bed rack, a spare and fuel, and the brakes are now stopping substantially more rotating mass and vehicle weight than they were engineered for. What you feel is longer stopping distances and fade — the pedal goes soft after repeated hard stops on a descent, which is exactly when you need it.

Alcon is an OE-level motorsport brake manufacturer, not a bolt-on parts brand. The kit puts a larger rotor and a multi-piston caliper up front where roughly 70 percent of braking work happens, restoring the margin the bigger tires took away.

Will the Alcon kit fit a 2019 or 2020 Raptor?

The kit we list is for 2017–2018. Ford made changes across the Gen 2 run. Call (480) 718-9800 with your year and we will tell you what fits.

Do I need bigger wheels to clear a big brake kit?

Big brake kits require a minimum wheel diameter and specific inner barrel clearance. The requirement is listed on the product page — check it against your wheels before ordering, especially if you run an aftermarket wheel with a low offset.

Do I need a big brake kit if I run 37s?

You do not need one to drive the truck, but larger and heavier tires meaningfully increase stopping distance and heat load on the factory brakes. If you also load the truck for chase or overland use, the case gets stronger. If you are on stock-size tires and driving normally, the factory brakes are adequate.

Do you do engine and intercooler work on the Gen 2?

What is arrive-and-drive?

We supply the race-prepped truck, transport, prep and crew for a given race; you show up and drive it. It is the standard way to get into desert racing without buying and maintaining a program.
