Fabricated Coil Bucket Kits

Fabricated Coil Bucket Kits for Ford Raptor and F-150

Replace a damaged coil bucket, reinforce a factory one before it tears, or convert an F-150 or Gen 1 Raptor to Gen 2 Raptor coilover geometry.

Fabricated, welded and machined in Mesa, Arizona by the shop that built the first Ford Raptor to race the Baja 1000.

Which Kit Do You Need?

Three different jobs, three different kits. Figure out which one you are doing before you order.

  • Replacement — your factory coil bucket is cracked, torn or bent. A Fabricated Coil Bucket Replacement Kit cuts the damaged bucket out and puts a stronger fabricated one in its place. Offered for 2021+ Gen 3 Raptor and 2017–2020 Gen 2 Raptor.
  • Reinforcement — your bucket is still good and you want it to stay that way. A Coil Bucket Reinforcement Plate Kit welds onto the existing structure and spreads the load before anything tears. Offered for 2021+ Gen 3 and 2017–2020 Gen 2.
  • Conversion — you have an F-150 or a Gen 1 Raptor and you want Gen 2 Raptor front suspension geometry. The Gen 1 to Gen 2 Raptor Coil Bucket Conversion Kit and the 2015+ F-150 to Gen 2 Raptor Coil Bucket Conversion Kit give you the correct coilover mounting to run Gen 2 hardware.

Reinforcement is far cheaper than replacement. If your bucket is intact and you are running big tires and big hits, do it now.

Why Factory Coil Buckets Fail

The coil bucket is the structure the front coilover pushes against. Every impact the front suspension takes ends up there, spread across a stamped sheet metal assembly welded to the frame.

On a stock truck driven on pavement that is fine for the life of the vehicle. Add a bigger tire, more travel, a stiffer spring, and a few seasons of desert whoops, and the load goes up while the metal fatigues. Cracks usually start at the weld seams and around the shock mounting area, and once they start they grow.

What you feel first is usually vague steering or a clunk over big hits. What you see when you look is a crack, or a bucket that has visibly pulled. Neither gets better on its own.

Conversions: F-150 and Gen 1 to Gen 2 Raptor

The Gen 2 Raptor front suspension is a significant step up in travel and shock capability. Both conversion kits exist to put that geometry under a truck that did not come with it.

  • 2015+ F-150 to Gen 2 Raptor — the popular path for owners who bought an F-150 and want Raptor front suspension without buying a Raptor.
  • Gen 1 to Gen 2 Raptor — for 2010–2014 Raptor owners moving to Gen 2 front hardware.

These are welded, fabricated installs. They are not driveway bolt-ons and they should be done by a shop that has done chassis work before. We do this work in-house in Mesa if you would rather bring the truck to us — call (480) 718-9800.

Coil Bucket Kit FAQs

Do I need to weld these in?

Yes. Replacement, reinforcement and conversion kits are all welded. The reinforcement plate kits are the least invasive but still require welding to the existing structure.

Can I install a reinforcement plate on a bucket that is already cracked?

Not as a repair. A reinforcement plate is preventive. If the bucket is already cracked or torn, you want the fabricated replacement kit — plating over a crack traps the problem instead of fixing it. Send us photos if you are not sure which situation you are in.

How do I know if my coil bucket is damaged?

Look at the top of the coilover mount from the engine bay and from underneath. You are looking for cracks radiating from weld seams, a bucket that has visibly deformed or pulled up, or paint that has flaked in a line. New clunks or vague steering after big hits are the symptoms that send people looking.

Will a conversion kit let me run Gen 2 Raptor shocks on my F-150?

That is the purpose of it — the kit provides the correct coilover mounting structure for Gen 2 Raptor front suspension geometry. Check the product page for exactly what is and is not included in the kit.

Do I need an alignment afterward?

Yes. Any time front suspension mounting structure changes, get the truck aligned.

Are these made in the USA?

Yes. Laser cut, formed and welded at our shop in Mesa, Arizona.
