Best Ford Ranger Raptor
Upgrades & Parts:
Suspension, Protection & Storage
The 2024+ Ranger Raptor is the most capable midsize truck Ford has ever sold in the States — and the easiest one to make dramatically better. Here is the full Foutz Motorsports lineup, ranked by what actually matters.
Short Answer: What Are the Best Upgrades for a 2024+ Ford Ranger Raptor?
Start with protection, then suspension, then storage. The three highest-value upgrades on a Ranger Raptor are the Active Suspension Control Module Guard, the Rear Shock Guard Mud Flap Kit, and the Mid Travel Front Suspension Kit. In that order.
The first two are among the least expensive kits we build for this truck, and together they prevent the two most common — and most costly — failures we see on the platform. The third is the single biggest change you can make to how the truck rides and how fast you can safely go in the dirt.
Every kit below is designed, laser cut, CNC bent, welded, and powder coated in-house at Foutz Motorsports in Arizona, and every one is a direct bolt-on fit for the 2024 and newer Ford Ranger Raptor.
Ford gave the 2024+ Ranger Raptor a twin-turbo 3.0L EcoBoost V6, Fox 2.5" Live Valve internal-bypass shocks, a Watts-link rear end, and seven drive modes including Baja. It is a genuinely fast truck out of the box. It is also a truck with expensive electronics hanging in exposed places, factory-length control arms that limit what the shocks can do, and a bed with nowhere to safely mount a spare or fuel.
At Foutz Motorsports we have been building and racing Ford off-road platforms since 1998. We built the very first Ford Raptor to run the Baja 1000 back in 2009. We do not guess where these trucks break — we have watched it happen, on our own rigs and on customers' rigs. Everything on this page exists because we saw a specific problem and built a specific fix.
Start Here: The Three Best Ranger Raptor Upgrades
Ranger Raptor Protection Kits
What Is the Most Important Thing to Protect on a Ranger Raptor?
The Active Suspension Control Module. It is the computer that runs the Ranger Raptor's Fox Live Valve shocks, reading sensor data and adjusting damping in real time. It is also mounted low and exposed, with its plug connector sitting right where rocks find it.
Here is why that matters more than it sounds: when that module is damaged, the truck loses its drive modes. Not one of them. All of them. A very expensive desert truck becomes a very heavy Ranger with a dash full of warnings, usually a long way from a dealer. The Active Suspension Control Module Protective Guard is .125" aluminum, laser cut and CNC bent in-house, and shaped to cover the module body and the connector — because covering one without the other solves nothing. It installs in a driveway with hand tools.
Why Do Ranger Raptor Rear Shocks Need a Mud Flap?
Because the rear shocks sit out in the open directly behind the front tires. Every rock, every clod of mud, every piece of trail debris the front tires pick up gets fired straight back at the shock bodies, shafts, and rear links. That is tire roost, and it does real damage — pitted shafts, torn seals, chipped coating, and eventually a leaking shock.
A styling mud flap does not solve this. It hangs behind the tire and stops at the sheet metal. The Ranger Raptor Rear Shock Guard Mud Flap Kit is oversized and positioned specifically to put nylon-reinforced rubber between the front tire and the rear suspension. The brackets are laser cut, CNC bent, and MIG welded in our shop, then powder coated hammer black. Bolt-on, sold as a pair, all hardware included.
Ranger Raptor Travel Sensor Protection — The Failure Nobody Expects
The Ranger Raptor's Live Valve system relies on rear suspension travel sensors to know what the truck is doing. They are small, they are mounted on the rear arms, and they are directly in the debris path. Break one and the active suspension loses its input.
The Rear Suspension Travel Sensor Protection Guard is sold as a pair and shields both sensors. Add the Travel Sensor Wire Protector and the wiring is covered too — which matters, because the wire is usually what fails first.
Underbody Armor: Skid Plates and Frame Guards
Four kits cover the rest of the underside. The Ranger Raptor Skid Plate protects the engine and drivetrain area up front. The Rear Differential Skid Plate armors the rear diff and axle. The Rear Shock Skid Kit armors the lower shock shaft from below. And the Rear Lower Arm Frame Guard with HDPE Slide protects the rear link mounts and lets the truck slide over rock instead of catching on it.
The Complete Rear Suspension Protection Stack
Run the Rear Shock Guard Mud Flap Kit on top and the Rear Shock Skid Kit underneath, then add the Rear Lower Arm Frame Guard and the Travel Sensor Guards. That combination covers the rear shock from above, below, and behind, and protects the sensors that keep Live Valve working.
Fully armoring the most expensive corner of the truck still costs less than replacing a single bypass shock. That is the whole argument.
Ranger Raptor Front Suspension Upgrades
What Is the Best Front Suspension Upgrade for a Ranger Raptor?
The Mid Travel Front Suspension Kit. The factory front end is good, but it is packaging-limited. Mid travel opens up wheel travel, improves the shock's ability to actually use its stroke, and completely changes how the truck handles whoops and high-speed washboard.
The kit is built around our Fabricated Lower Control Arms — Stock Width, so those come with it rather than being a separate purchase. To finish the front end, add the matching Sway Bar Kit for Fabricated Lower Arms. That is a purpose-built desert front end.
Billet Upper Control Arms and Top Hats
The Billet Upper Control Arm Kit — Stock Length replaces the factory stamped arm with machined billet aluminum and better joints, correcting geometry and adding strength without changing track width. Pair it with the Billet Top Hat — Stock Height, a machined replacement for a factory part that is a known wear point on hard-used trucks.
How Do You Lift a 2024 Ranger Raptor Without Ruining the Ride?
Use a spring collar, not a spacer. The Ranger Raptor Spring Collar Lift Kit gives you 1.5", 2", or 2.5" of front lift from a single kit by adjusting spring preload on the factory coilover. No spacer stacking, no top-out damage, and you can dial it in after you see how the truck sits with your tire and bumper choice.
Steering: Tie Rods Are the Weak Link
Factory tie rods bend. Three options, depending on budget and how hard you drive:
The Tie Rod Steering Sleeve Support Kit reinforces the factory rod and is the cheapest meaningful steering upgrade on the truck. The Billet Half Tie Rod Kit replaces the vulnerable half with billet aluminum. The Full Billet Tie Rod Kit replaces the whole assembly and is what we run on trucks that see real desert speed.
Bump Stops, Limit Straps, and Arm Reinforcement
Controlling the end of the stroke is what keeps suspension components alive. The Front Limit Strap Kit & Bump Stop for Stock Lower Arm stops the front from topping out and adds proper hydraulic bump control while keeping your factory lower arms. Out back, the Adjustable Rear Bump Stop does the same for the rear, tunable to your spring rate and load.
The Lower A-Arm Slot Block Kit is the small part with an outsized effect: it locks your alignment shims so camber does not walk after a hard hit. If you have ever come home from a trip with the alignment gone, this is why.
Ranger Raptor Rear Suspension
Billet Rear Arms with Ultra-Flex Joints
The Rear Suspension Kit — Billet Aluminum Arms with Ultra-Flex Joints replaces the factory rear links with machined billet aluminum arms running Ultra-Flex joints. The factory rubber bushings bind as the axle articulates, which fights the shock and loads the mounts. Ultra-Flex joints let the rear end move the way the shock wants it to move, and they are rebuildable rather than disposable.
Ranger Raptor Bed Racks & Storage
Where Do You Put a Spare Tire and Fuel on a Ranger Raptor?
The Ranger & Ranger Raptor Modular Bed Organizer is exactly what the name says — modular. Configure it for a spare tire, fuel jugs, a jack, recovery gear, or all of it, and reconfigure later when your needs change. It is the same bed organizer architecture we build for chase trucks.
If you are running a long travel rear setup, the Rear Bed Organizer — Long Travel Rear Suspension Version is built to clear through-the-bed shock mounting while still carrying a tire and gear.
Ranger Raptor Light Mounts
Two mounts cover the two places you actually want light. The Front Light Mount Kit for the Stock Bumper holds up to six pods behind the factory bumper — no bumper replacement, no cutting, and it fits Baja Designs, Rigid, and Nacho housings. The Front A-Pillar Light Mount puts ditch lights exactly where they help most on tight trail at night.

What Should You Buy First?
Almost every Ranger Raptor owner we talk to wants to know the same thing: what is the right order. Here is how we tell people to stage it.
If you only ever do Stage 1, you have eliminated the most common ways this truck ruins a weekend — for a fraction of what any one of those repairs costs. That is the best money on this entire page.
Ford Ranger Raptor Upgrade FAQ
The 2024 and newer Ford Ranger Raptor sold in North America. Every kit on this page is designed around that truck's frame, suspension geometry, and electronics locations. They are not intended for the standard 2024+ Ranger or for earlier global-market Ranger Raptors.
The Active Suspension Control Module Protective Guard. It is among the least expensive kits we make for this truck and it protects against the failure with the worst consequence — a damaged module takes every drive mode with it, including Baja. Add the Rear Shock Guard Mud Flap Kit next.
The protection kits, light mounts, and lift collars are bolt-on and use factory mounting points — no drilling, no cutting, nothing permanent. Full suspension kits such as the mid travel front end and fabricated lower arms are more involved installs; call us at (480) 718-9800 if you want to know exactly what a specific kit requires on your truck.
The protection guards are purely mechanical shields with no electrical connection, so all factory drive modes including Baja continue to work exactly as they do from the factory. Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, installing aftermarket parts does not automatically void a vehicle warranty, though a dealer can deny a claim on a component if they show the aftermarket part caused the failure. Check with your dealer on anything you are unsure about.
The Foutz Spring Collar Lift Kit gives 1.5", 2", or 2.5" of front lift from one kit by adjusting preload on the factory coilover, rather than stacking spacers. Start at the lower setting and work up once you know your final tire and bumper weight.
The Billet Half Tie Rod Kit replaces the more vulnerable half of the factory assembly with billet aluminum. The Full Billet Tie Rod Kit replaces the complete assembly. If you are running larger tires and real desert speed, go full. If you want a strong upgrade on a budget, the Steering Sleeve Support Kit reinforces the factory rod and is a genuine improvement for very little money.
Yes. They protect different things. The mud flap intercepts roost coming off the front tires before it reaches the rear shock. The travel sensor guards protect the small sensors and their wiring that tell the Live Valve system what the suspension is doing. Losing a sensor degrades the active suspension even if the shock itself is fine.
Yes. Everything is designed and manufactured at Foutz Motorsports in Arizona — laser cut, CNC bent, MIG welded, machined, and powder coated in-house. American made, off-road proven since 1998.
Built from Race-Proven Experience
Foutz Motorsports has been making off-road great since 1998. We built the first Ford Raptor to race the Baja 1000 in 2009, and our founder Greg Foutz has won countless races in production stock trucks. That is not marketing history — it is the reason we know where the Ranger Raptor is weak before most owners find out the hard way.
Every kit we make is engineered around the way these trucks are actually used, then cut, bent, welded, machined, and coated in our own shop in Arizona. If you are not sure which parts fit your build or what order to do them in, call us. Our team has more hands-on experience with the Raptor family than anyone else on the planet.
