Ranger Raptor Lift Kit: Spring Collars vs. Geiser Lift Springs (and 35s)

Ranger Raptor Lift: Spring Collars vs. Lift Springs

How a spring collar lift and a Geiser +2" spring compare on the 2024–2026 Ford Ranger Raptor: ride, wheel travel, 35" tires and what the install takes.

The Short Answer

Both lift the front of a Ranger Raptor, both keep the factory FOX Live Valve shocks, and neither one changes wheel travel. You keep stock travel either way. The difference is the ride. A spring collar keeps the factory spring and adds preload, with a choice of 1.5", 2" or 2.5" of lift. A Geiser +2" spring replaces the factory spring with a progressive-rate spring for about 2" of lift, and it rides stiffer than the collar lift. Running 35s? You want 2" or more.

⚠ A Lift Does Not Add Wheel Travel

A collar or a taller spring raises the ride height. It does not make the suspension cycle farther. Both of these options leave the Ranger Raptor with stock wheel travel.

If more travel is the goal, that is a suspension kit, not a lift. See Mid Travel vs. Long Travel.

Spring Collar vs. Geiser Spring

What you care about FMI spring collar lift Geiser +2" front spring
Front lift 1.5", 2" or 2.5" About 2"
Factory spring Kept, with added preload Replaced with a progressive-rate spring
Ride Softer of the two Stiffer than the collar lift; firmer than stock
Wheel travel Stock Stock
FOX Live Valve shocks Kept Kept; no Live Valve recalibration needed
35" tires Use the 2" or 2.5" collar Up to 35"
Install Coil over out, spring compressed Coil over out, spring compressed
Finish Raw billet, black or FOX orange anodized Gloss dark slate grey powder coat

What Each One Does

Spring Collar Lift

The FMI collar installs under the factory spring and above the lower spring perch on the Live Valve coil over. It adds preload to the spring you already have, which raises the front of the truck. Pick 1.5", 2" or 2.5" to match your tires and the stance you want. The collars are CNC machined in-house from billet aluminum and laser engraved, in raw, black anodized or FOX orange anodized.

Geiser +2" Front Spring

The Geiser kit replaces the factory front spring with a custom progressive-rate spring built for the Ranger Raptor. It gives about 2" of front lift and a level stance with the factory rear springs. The progressive rate adds support and front end control, and the ride is firmer than stock and stiffer than the collar lift. It works with the factory Live Valve shocks with no recalibration.

Lift for 35s on a Ranger Raptor

For 35" tires, you really need 2" or more of front lift. That means the 2" or 2.5" spring collar, or the Geiser +2" spring. Tire fit still depends on your wheel size, offset and the tire itself, so check your combination.

Moving to 35s? You will also want somewhere to put a matching spare. See Truck Bed Spare Tire Carriers.

Collar or Spring: Which Should You Choose?

Choose the Spring Collar If
You want to keep the factory spring and the softer ride
You want to pick your height: 1.5", 2" or 2.5"
You want the finish to match other billet parts
Choose the Geiser Spring If
You want a stiffer, more supported front end
About 2" of lift is the height you want
You are replacing the factory spring anyway

Same Work Either Way

Both installs are basically the same job. The coil over comes out of the truck and the spring has to be compressed to take it apart, either to fit the collar or to swap in the new spring. A wall-mounted spring compressor is the right tool. Have the front end aligned after the ride height change.

Why upper arms after a lift: some trucks lose caster when the front is raised and start to feel unstable at speed. Adjustable arms let the alignment shop put it back. Ranger Raptor Lift FAQ

What is the best lift for a Ranger Raptor?

It depends on the ride you want. A spring collar keeps the factory spring and the softer ride and gives you 1.5", 2" or 2.5". A Geiser +2" spring gives about 2" with a stiffer, more supported ride. Both keep the factory Live Valve shocks.

Does a lift add wheel travel?

No. Both the collar lift and the Geiser spring keep stock wheel travel. They change ride height, not how far the suspension cycles.

How much lift do I need for 35s on a Ranger Raptor?

2" or more. Use the 2" or 2.5" collar, or the Geiser +2" spring. Wheel size, offset and the tire itself also affect fit.

Is the Geiser spring stiffer than the collar lift?

Yes. The Geiser spring is a progressive-rate spring and rides stiffer than the collar lift, which keeps the factory spring.

Do I need to recalibrate the Live Valve shocks?

Not for the Geiser +2" spring; its maker says no recalibration is needed. The collar kit is designed around the factory Live Valve suspension and keeps the factory shock.

How hard is the install?

Both are about the same job. The coil over comes out and the spring is compressed to take it apart. Use a wall-mounted spring compressor, and get an alignment afterward.

Does it lift the rear too?

No. Both are front kits. The Geiser +2" spring is designed to give a level stance with the factory rear springs.
