2027 Ram TRX Billet Tie Rod Kit
Description
Description
Steering is the one system on a TRX where a failure is not just an inconvenience. The factory tie rod is the weak link people find first, usually at exactly the moment they least want to.
This kit replaces both tie rods with 6061-T6 billet aluminum on FK rod ends — 7/8" at the spindle, 3/4" at the steering rack — with urethane boots to keep dirt and water out of the rack. CNC machined in-house at Foutz Motorsports in Mesa, Arizona.
How It's Built
Each tie rod starts as 6061-T6 aluminum hex stock and is CNC machined to an FMI profile shaped for clearance — while keeping a proper flat so you can actually get a wrench on it and torque everything down.
- At the spindle: 7/8" FK rod ends with custom 17-4 stainless steel high-misalignment spacers, so the joint cycles properly through travel instead of binding
- At the steering rack: stainless steel clevis adapters with 3/4" FK rod ends and 17-4 stainless spacers
- Hardware: grade 8 bolts and lock nuts at both ends
- Urethane rack boots to seal the rack and keep water and dirt out — the part most tie rod upgrades leave off, and the one that decides how long the rack lasts
- Available in raw billet or black anodize
Shock Clearance — Read Before Ordering
This kit is designed around the stock front shock.
Aftermarket front shocks come in a range of body and reservoir diameters, and a larger body can make contact with the tie rod assembly — that is true of the factory tie rod as well, not just this kit. If your truck is running anything other than the stock front shock, contact us with what you have before ordering so we can check clearance.
What's in the Kit
- (2) Billet tie rod tubes with 7/8" rod ends at the wheel and 3/4" rod ends at the steering rack
- (2) Steering rack clevis adapters
- (2) Tie rod boots to keep the rack sealed
- (1) Hardware kit — 17-4 stainless steel spacers, grade 8 bolts and nuts
Fitment
2027 Ram 1500 TRX with the stock front shock. See the shock clearance note above if the truck is on aftermarket shocks.
The 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 TRX is a different generation and uses its own tie rod kit. Ram did not build a TRX for 2025 or 2026, so a part listed for 2021-2024 does not carry forward to the 2027 truck.
If you want the tie rod strengthened without replacing the whole assembly, the billet half tie rod kit covers the rack end only.
Questions
Will this work with aftermarket front shocks?
Not necessarily. The kit is designed around the stock front shock, and a larger aftermarket shock body can contact the tie rod — the same is true of the factory tie rod. Call us with your shock before ordering.
Why aluminum instead of steel?
6061-T6 hex stock machined to this section gives the strength the steering needs without the weight, and it lets us shape the tube for clearance rather than working around a round tube.
Are the boots included?
Yes — two urethane rack boots come in the kit. Sealing the rack is what keeps water and grit out of the steering, so they are not an optional extra.
Full kit or half kit?
This is the full tie rod. The half kit replaces the inner, rack-end section only and keeps the factory outer — a cheaper way to address the most common failure point.
Do I need an alignment afterward?
Yes. Anything that changes tie rod length changes toe, so plan on an alignment once the kit is installed.
Does this fit a 2021-2024 TRX?
No. See the Fitment section above for that truck's version.
