In these kits the bypass is the secondary shock, working alongside the primary shock in the kit. A bypass shock routes oil through external tubes on the body, so the damping can change depending on where the shaft is in its stroke.

How those tubes are laid out and how the shock is valved decide where in the travel it does its work. FOX builds this shock to FMI's own tube layout and valving, matched to our front mid travel kits rather than to a general application.
